The Golden Compass promotion begins:

- A teaser poster will appear in theaters May 4 featuring heroine Lyra (Dakota Blue Richards) and her protective daemon, ice-bear Iorek.

- Fifteen minutes of footage will be shown at the Cannes Film Festival, which kicks off May 16. That's the same buzz-generating strategy used for 2001's "Fellowship of the Ring." Attending Cannes: Writer/director Chris Weitz ("About a Boy") and co-stars Daniel Craig, Dakota Blue Richards, Sam Elliott, and Eva Green.

- The first teaser trailer will appear May 25, along with "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End."

From Ananova: While most men will shop with their girlfriends with gritted teeth... Daniel Craig is the ultimate shopping companion.

The Casino Royale star was recently spotted shopping with his girlfriend Satsuki Mitchell at the swanky Harvey Nichols department store in London. And Daniel played the ultimate gent through the entire excursion.

A source told the Daily Express: "Daniel was quite happy to wait patiently while his girlfriend shopped. He even offered advice on her choices."

Pass him over, Satsuki, it's rude not to share.

Edit: Daniel "wasn’t buying up any more fetching swimming trunks for himself,” according to the Daily Express.

Also, New Line Cinema just launched a new interactive feature called "Meet Your Daemon" on GoldenCompassMovie.com. "Meet Your Daemon" allows users to discover exactly what daemon (pronounced dee-mon) best represents their personality, and then allows them to take their uniquely created daemon avatar with them by embedding it on their own website or MySpace page, using it as their AIM logo, or downloading it as desktop wallpaper.
