According to the Daily Express, producers of the 007 movies were horrified to discover that Daniel Craig would be dicing with death on his next film.

The blond Bond, 39, ran the daily risk of being eaten by polar bears while filming The Golden Compass – an adaptation of Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials – in the Arctic Circle.

The film’s director Chris Weitz says that there were palpitations all round at Bond HQ when producers heard about the
not-so-friendly local wildlife.

“I guess they were a little concerned that having discovered their new James Bond in Daniel, we then headed to the Arctic Circle to film our movie where the polar bears were a constant and deadly threat to the crew,” says Chris.

Daniel was not shaken or stirred by the prospect of death by polar bear. “As a massive fan and avid reader of all of Philip Pullman’s novels, I was happy to go through the usual physical hardships,” he says.

British star Daniel Craig was spotted in Bantry Bay on Tuesday filming his latest movie, Flashbacks of a Fool.

Work began early on Tuesday with the setting up of a scene in front of a restaurant. The set involved a black Range Rover Sport parked at the entrance and crew members were preparing the vehicle before Craig arrived just after 9am.

The long wait for the star of Casino Royale was rewarded when he appeared sporting sunglasses, a cool white shirt and blue jeans. Bodyguards and the rest of his entourage tried to shield the new 007 from the media.

Craig, who arrived in the city at the weekend, was in action almost immediately. There were a few takes, with Craig in the Range Rover talking on his cellphone, then getting out and loudly delivering another line.

He is expected to be shooting in the city for a month.

Washington, May 28: Daniel Craig is so desperate for a little anonymity after the success of Bond flick 'Casino Royale', that he's starting to grow a beard to hide his face behind.
The actor, who became the first Blonde Bond when the movie hit theatres last year, revealed that though the beard was making him feel a bit 'hot', it was worth the discomfort, for it was fooling fans.

"It's hot under all this, but I don't mind if it means I can walk around town normally," Contactmusic quoted him, as saying.

Craig, whose choice as the suave secret agent was slammed by an army of Bond devotees who filled cyberspace with petitions calling for him to be axed from the role, successfully won over his critics when the movie hit halls across the world.

So good was he in fact, that his predecessor Pierce Brosnan labelled him the 'Greatese Bond Ever'.

Brosnan, who took on the mantle of the suave British super agent after Timothy Dalton and appeared in four 007 movies - GoldenEye (1995), Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), The World Is Not Enough (1999) and Die Another Day (2002), publicly admitted that he had been disappointed at not being offered a fifth Bond flick.

However, after seeing Craig successfully stepping into his shoes, Brosnan admitted that the British actor's choice as the new James Bond was "great", and that he has shown that he deserves the honour of being the "greatest Bond ever".

"Daniel Craig is the greatest Bond ever and deservedly so. He was a great choice," he said.

The James Bond star claims his new facial hair is fooling the public, who have no idea the man behind the beard is a Hollywood celebrity. And Craig admits the beard-growing is worth the effort - and helps him feel 'normal'. He says, "It's hot under all this, but I don't mind if it means I can walk around town normally."

A UK poll says men are increasingly worrying about the way they look and would like to have the body of Brad Pitt, David Beckham or James Bond star Daniel Craig.

The survey says 64 per cent of men want a celebrity body and 81 per cent of women believe men should aim for one.

Outside the top three there were big differences between the attitudes of men and women with men envying the physiques of Cristiano Ronaldo and Arnold Schwarzenegger and women going for Thierry Henry and Justin Timberlake.
