According to the media, Daniel's new four-film deal to play James Bond is record-breaking. "Hollywood studio MGM has tied the 39-year-old actor into a deal which could make him £30 million ($62 million) over the next decade. The contract will incorporate a sliding salary based on how much each consecutive film makes at the box office and, importantly, in merchandising."

According to a new article in the Hollywood Reporter, Daniel has signed on for more James Bond films. MGM chairman and CEO, Harry Sloan revealed the news at the Forbes MEET II conference that Daniel is signed up as Agent 007 right through until Bond 25.

Daniel will receive the Variety Award for bringing the British film industry into the international spotlight at the tenth annual British Independent Film Awards.

The awards ceremony will take place on Wednesday November 28 at the Roundhouse in London, and will be hosted by James Nesbitt.

Many called his casting an incredible gamble, but Craig successfully brought James Bond into the 21st century with his portrayal of 007 in Casino Royale. Previously a relative unknown outside the UK, Craig’s excellent portrayal of a darker, more vulnerable Bond has lead beyond the follow-up film to show his versatility in other works.

England coach Brian Ashton told a news conference that James Bond actor Daniel Craig phoned yesterday to wish the team well. Craig contacted Ashton asking him to "pass on my best wishes to the rest of the team. I'm filming in Lithuania at the moment, unfortunately I can't be there and I won't see it on TV".

According to Ashton, the actor is a massive England rugby fan.
